A Look into A Dog’s Life at the Beach!

We all know that buying a home is a major decision—but have you thought about what it means for your dog? Today, we’re shining a spotlight on our four-legged family members and why moving to the beach could be the best thing you ever do… for them.
Living by the beach is a dream come true for dogs. From early morning strolls by the ocean to off-leash playdates and pup-friendly patios, this area is packed with canine-approved activities. But before you grab the leash, it’s good to know the local beach rules:
- Atlantic Beach, Vilano Beach, Mickler’s Landing, and Ponte Vedra Beach all welcome dogs year-round, any time of day—as long as they’re on a leash.
- Neptune Beach allows leashed dogs any time from Oct. 1–Mar. 1. During the warmer months (Mar. 2–Sept. 30), dogs are allowed only from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m.
- Jacksonville Beach is open to leashed dogs Oct. 1–Mar. 31, but off-limits during peak season (April–September).
For more freedom, local dog parks provide safe spaces for your pup to roam and socialize. One standout is Brewhound in Neptune Beach—a combination dog park and bar where you can sip wine or a local brew while your dog makes new friends.
Ponte Vedra and the surrounding beaches are loaded with restaurants and breweries that welcome dogs. A few of our favorites:
- Southern Grounds – Laid-back coffee spot with a spacious outdoor patio.
- Sliders & North Beach Fish Camp – Tasty beachside meals with dog-friendly outdoor seating.
- Whit's Frozen Custard – Famous for frozen treats and ‘Pup Cups’ for your dog.
- Joseph’s Pizza – Perfect patio setup for pizza lovers and their pups.
- Breweries like Green Room, Southern Swells, Ponte Vedra Taproom, and Engine 15 – Great local brews with space for your pup to hang out.
Whether it's digging in the sand, chasing tennis balls, or joining you for a bite to eat, life at the Jacksonville beaches is a paradise. Thinking of making a move? Don’t forget to factor in your pup’s happiness—it might just seal the deal.
