Many people relocating to our area begin looking for real estate in Jacksonville but fall in love with the neighborhoods of Ponte Vedra Beach. Ponte Vedra Beach offers a country club lifestyle with convenient access to many shopping and dining options. Housing choices run the gamut from single bedroom condominiums to exclusive gated communities and spectacular single family oceanfront estates. From the 1940s through the 1970s, road construction opened this coastal area to development and to the expansion of summer homes along the beach. The area known as Old Ponte Vedra, which stretches on either side of Ponte Vedra Boulevard, dates from this era, and has seen significant rebuilding as older homes have given way to spectacular, luxury homes. More recently, large-scale gated community developments have continued to contribute to Ponte Vedra’s reputation as a resort community, and greatly expanded the housing options and local amenities.

Ponte Vedra Beach abuts the magnificent Guana Tolomato Matanzas Estuarine National Research Reserve (GTMNERR), a true Florida treasure and one of the last remaining ocean/intracoastal habitats that is in near pristine conditions. Within its 60,000 acres (240 km) are beaches, sand dunes, salt marshes, mangroves, tidal wetlands, tidal creeks, oyster bars, estuarine lagoons, maritime hardwood hammock, freshwater depression marshes, pond pine flatwoods and shell mound forests.

Ponte Vedra Beach Amenities

Ponte Vedra Beach is home to a number of gated communities, each of which feature their own clubs and amenities. In addition, there are a number of exceptional clubs and hotels along the beach which offer an extensive range of dining, shopping, spas, pools, tennis facilities and gyms. There are public access paths to the beach and parking facilities are available. Swimming, sun bathing, tennis, boating, fishing and surfing are all popular. Ponte Vedra Beach is perhaps most famous for its numerous golf courses, and overall for its outdoor, healthy lifestyle in one of Florida’s most beautiful natural settings.

Schools around Ponte Vedra Beach

The excellent public school system is consistently ranked among the best in the state. Public schools in Ponte Vedra include Ponte Vedra/ Palm Valley/Rawlings and Ocean Palms Elementary schools, Landrum Middle School, Nease and Ponte Vedra High Schools.

Ponte Vedra Beach is also the home to a number of excellent private schools including schools that range from nationally renowned academic and athletic powerhouses to small church-affiliated institutions. The larger schools located in Jacksonville generally offer bus service to the Beaches.
