Residents also enjoy a state-of-the art swim and fitness center and a tennis club with eight lighted Har-Tru tennis courts. Palencia also features a 10-acre athletic park with ballfields, basketball courts and a large playground. For those who like to bike, or simply unwind by walking through nature trails and green spaces, the mile-long Tolomato River Boardwalk connects the 30 acre neighborhood park system with Intracoastal island preserves. Residents can fish for tarpon, reds and sea trout from the community maintained dock.

Palencia is located in the St. Johns County School District. Students attend Mill Creek Elementary School, Pacetti Bay Middle School, and Allen D. Nease High School.
