The St. Johns County School District broke ground on a new K-8 school this month. Located at 105 Greenleaf Drive in Ponte Vedra's Nocatee community, this school is expected to open in August 2014. Ponte Vedra High school opened in Nocatee in 2008 and is committed to maintaining the high education standards of St. Johns County. Nocatee has land set aside for six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school according to the community's website.

The HGTV Smart Home in the Paradise Key neighborhood of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, will get a lucky owner in July 2013, according to the Paradise Key website. The building process will be documented throughout the year on the HGTV Smart Home blog and a recap of the construction will be aired on DIY Network early next year. HGTV announced late last year that the first Smart Home to be featured during the HGTV Smart Home Giveaway in April 2013, will be built in Paradise Key South Beach neighborhood in Jacksonville Beach, FL. According to the HGTV article, this home will have technology that allows its occupants to monitor energy and control many of the home's electronic and climate systems.
